Art & Word Collaborative Edition

Scottish Print Collection

The Scottish Print Collection is extra special as I’ve collaborated with the very talented Scottish Travel Blogger, Yvette Webster, who has written a beautiful story to accompany each print. Each mountain is a limited edition of 50 and presented in an exclusive portfolio sleeve created for the collection (which I’m in love with!). The collaboration began as a desire to create a deeper connection to the subject of my work, sharing more than just my own experiences and connections to the land, and to work with other people across disciplines.

It’s important to me that I make my mark on everything I create and that no two prints are the same so all prints have been uniquely hand finished. Each print is finished with gold and copper paint to give them a warm rich glow - inspired by memories of many early mornings and evenings in the Scottish wilds.

ABOUT YVETTE

Yvette is from New Zealand, but now calls Scotland her home. Over the past few years she’s been on some wild adventures; she’s lived in a van in the Canadian Rockies, worked in the mountains at a ski resort, and hiked the length of Scotland solo. She also grew up on a farm, so nature and the outdoors are very important to her. and she believe adventure is the key to happiness and fulfilment. Whether it’s hiking, snowboarding or simply being in nature- she love being outdoors and going on adventures. Yvette lives in a small village in West Lothian, Scotland, with her husband and dog., Her.Scottish travel blog (Wayfaring Kiwi) inspires people to travel and create amazing memories.

The Stories…

QUINAG: THE WISHBONE OF THE HIGHLANDS

Yvette’s story is about one of her most challenging days hiking in the Scottish Highlands. The theme of this piece is how much nature gives to us, and how it's important we protect her. This piece is very personal to Yvette, and it touches on her hope that nature and humans can coexist and be of benefit to each other.

BEINN ALLIGIN: THE HORNS OF ALLIGIN

This story is about when Yvette hiked the Cape Wrath Trail, one of the most challenging long-distance walks in the UK. The themes of this story are gratitude, the magic of simplicity, and the concept that we are human 'beings' not human 'doings.'

BUACHAILLE ETIVE MOR: THE GATEKEEPER OF THE HIGHLANDS

This is Yvette’s favourite story of the series - it's about the first time you drive through the legendary valley of Glen Coe and the awe you experience when you first lay your eyes on Buachaille Etive Mor. The main theme of this story is about strength, protection, and finding your place in the world. Her hope is that whenever you see this print hanging in your home, you will feel protected by the mighty gatekeeper of Glen Coe!

THE THREE SISTERS AND THE MACDONALDS OF GLENCOE

This story is about the mighty MacDonalds of Glencoe who once called this valley home. It touches on the theme of the journey of life, loss, beauty, and displacement.

OLD MAN OF STORR: THE GENTLE GIANT OF TROTTERNISH

This story is about the first time Yvette laid eyes on the Old Man of Storr during my first visit to the Isle of Skye. The themes of this story touch on how looks can be deceiving, and how the rugged landscape have made the Scots who they are today.
